Lady Evelyn Stewart Murray : ウィキペディア英語版 | Lady Evelyn Stewart Murray
Lady Evelyn Stewart Murray (c. 1868 – 1940), was a Scottish folklorist who collected Gaelic folktales and songs in 1891 from people who lived on and around the Blair Castle estate in Highland Perthshire, Scotland. She was the youngest daughter of John, 7th Duke of Atholl, and Louisa, Duchess of Atholl. == Life ==
Lady Evelyn had the typical upbringing of a Victorian aristocrat but was far from typical for her time and class. During her teenage years she became seriously ill and to keep boredom at bay she began to learn Gaelic. Although her father was supportive in her desire to master the language, by the end of her teenage years, he also felt that it was about time that she found a husband. During 1891 she compiled a collection of over two hundred myths and tales. She lived in Switzerland from late 1891 until moving to Belgium in 1895. She returned to Scotland prior to the Second World War and died in Perthshire on 30 July 1940.
